Our Story
From New York to Baltimore — and Everything in Between
Our story began more than 26 years ago in New York, when two people met without knowing just how much life they would eventually build together.
We’re Michael and Shannon Wright, and through more than two and a half decades together, our journey has taken us through love, family, creativity, unexpected challenges, new beginnings, and more than a few changes of plans.
After meeting in New York, we eventually made our home in New Jersey. For years, that was simply where life happened. Then, in 2012, Superstorm Sandy changed everything.
We lost our home in the storm and suddenly had to figure out what came next. That journey brought us to Baltimore, Maryland.
Baltimore wasn't supposed to become home.
Our move was meant to be temporary—a place to regroup, rebuild, and decide where life would take us next. But sometimes the places you don't plan to stay are the ones that capture your heart.
We fell in love with Baltimore—the people, the neighborhoods, the history, the food, the art, and the culture. What began as a temporary stop became a new chapter of our lives, and we've called the Baltimore area home ever since.
Building Something Together
Over the years, we've discovered that neither of us was very good at doing just one thing.
We've written books, created art, designed clothing, crocheted pieces, handbags, and jewelry, stepped behind microphones for our radio show, cooked countless meals together, experimented with our own recipes, grown food at home, pursued science, spoken publicly, and followed ideas simply because we wanted to see where they might lead.
We've also experienced the other side of life—the moments that test everything you thought you knew about the future.
Through loss, rebuilding, serious health challenges, dialysis, heart and kidney disease, and the possibility of organ transplantation, we've learned something important:
You don't have to wait for life to be perfect to start living it.
And that is really where Live Wright comes from.
It's more than our last name.
It's the story of two people who have spent more than 26 years creating, growing, overcoming, and inspiring one another—and who aren't finished yet.
This is our story. And we're still writing it.
